Deirdre Bracken is a Dublin based artist and educator. She graduated with honours in fine art and education from the National College of Art and Design (NCAD Dublin). Her focus and practice is painting. She has a full time art practice as well as being a secondary school teacher. Her work explores visually, many themes impacted by the world around her and her art takes its lead from the representational landscape image and investigates the space between it and the abstract. She allows the paint to dictate the way in her creative process with a focus on experimenting with colour, mood and various methods of applying the paint. Her influences are the many great artists from the abstract expressionist and pop art movement both stateside and in Europe. Her work has been used for poetry publications and is also held in private collections. Her most recent exhibition along with a fellow artist was opened by Diana Copperwhite and the work was well received.
